Principal, Program Management (New Program Management)

The Marketplace team is actively seeking a big-thinker, influencer and problem solver to drive topline growth for the business. Coupang provides a marketplace that offers new, used, and ever-expanding selections to Coupang customers.

What does the role involve?
As a Principal. Program Manager, this individual will be part of a team of a highly diverse group of Business owners, striving to drive long term, sustainable growth. You will identify, lead or collaborate in initiatives that will pull our growth levers such as increasing selection, improving seller and customer experience and driving Seller adoption of new products and features.

The successful candidate will be a business owner and requires the ability to make high judgment business critical decisions, an ability to bring structure to ambiguous environments and an ability to drive change through influence. Successful candidates require customer focus, creativity, a data-first orientation and experience with performance and scale. Individuals will have the opportunity to make a difference in a fast paced, dynamic environment where your ability to deep dive, communicate, collaborate and drive changes will be a key. You will work primarily with product to help drive and implement new products into the sales and seller community. Outside of just implementation of those products, you are responsible for building and driving initiatives around those products and programs that ensure they are a success, and capture critical learning and feedback from our sales and seller community.


  • Be a “business owner” – work with other key stakeholders such as PO, Engineering and marketplace teams to define the long-term strategy and resources needed that will drive a step-change growth and adoption and prioritize the set of initiatives and programs.

  • Manage and drive the P&L – Measure the key input metrics and identify actions for improvement in both the short and long term. Build and audit metrics for the business to manage key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Identify emerging growth segments and trends in the business and help prioritize investment in key areas of growth of both topline and profitability. Where we can not engineer, be fearless in testing and programs to prove or disprove business assumptions.

  • Gain buy-in for strategy and roadmap from stakeholders by writing narratives and influencing peers and senior leadership.

  • Develop, implement, lead formal or informal cross functional teams, or change new processes or playbook with key stakeholder groups as necessary across areas such as the customer experience, the delivery promise, seller and selection acquisition strategies and other operational improvements.


  • 8~10+ years of relevant work experience in Program management, process improvement and/or digital/high-technology companies/products

  • Experience in driving topline / business growth is a must

  • Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload

  • Track record of working in an ambiguous environment and demonstrated the ability to define processes that can scale

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams, communicate with colleagues in both business and technical roles and develop process that drives scale

  • Adept at working with different systems and making recommendations on improvements for both systems and processes

  • Excellent Relationship management and communication skills

  • Ability to influence

  • Track record of successfully scaling business campaigns



  • MBA (highly preferred)

  • Strong verbal and written English proficiency

  • Strong familiarity of financial metrics such as working capital, cash flow, margin along with basic

  • Accounting principles and techniques

  • Experience with program management methodologies

  • Leveraging technology to invent, improve, and scale

  • Experience in SQL
